THE DIVISION LOOKING AT HOW DYNAMIC WEATHER AND LIGHTING CAN AFFECT GAMEPLAY
Ubisoft has given more detail on how the weather and the time of day in The Division can affect the gameplay.
According to a blog article available on the official website, the indoor and outdoor environment – whether lighting or temperature – can help or hinder a player depending on the conditions.
On the one hand, when a storm is in effect, visibility will be hindered for players and NPCs. The worst of the storm, is that the detection ranges will become less effective in order to help or not the players.
At night, some light sources in the environment may attract the attention of NPCs, while the blackened area will be just as black as coal. During the day, the atmosphere will be totally different, even with less adverse weather conditions.
Combine a blackened area with severe weather and you will have challenges to overcome. During a walk around Manhattan, players can take refuge in some of the different types of buildings in the center of the city. Inside, they can expect more favorable conditions.
The Division is scheduled for release on March 8, 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
